It's certainly interesting to look at the separate strands of both Nazi and Communist political co-opting of Traditional folk music for early 20thC propagandist purposes. I was aware of Hitler's savvy exploitation of Volk music, but not until now aware of Stalin's equivalent interest in Russian folk song.
