Exactly... I'm not interested in the personal lives of my sci-fi characters. I'm not interested in who they're kissing, holding hands with, exchanging coy glances with, who (or how) they're screwing (or indeed the baby-shaped byproduct of such activities, if and when one is imposed on the hapless viewer).

Just let 'em get on with their sci-fi jobs and I'm a happy bunny. Leave all that relationship blah (including the so-called "sexy" bits) to reality-based soap operas..

Gimme seven of nine over a red-headed bint in a mini-skirt anyday, at least 7 had her priorities straight, she was sci-fi all the way!
