In the mid 70's I took my Tobacco Sunburst Fender Stratocaster (1964 vintage)stripped the paint and finished it with a coat of clear acrylic. Before the recent recession my creative impulse removed about $5,000 off the appraised value of the guitar. I won't sell it anyway, but those who may be in a similar position might want to think twice before you start sanding.
