Having left my frigidaire (a UK model, larder fridge) in my last house when I moved out in November, it was still working after about 13 years. The only issue I had with it was the flimsy plastic of the "crisper" at the bottom, which left a chunk in my grasp when I opened it fully laden, not long after I had it. I inherited an unspecified make of undercounter fridge with this house, which was inefficient and small, and which had a door incapable of taking the wieght of milk containers, so it didn't always seal properly. As I was about to demolish the kitchen, and rebuild a bit bigger, I went to the major appliance stores and had a good look. I wanted something well made, and also energy efficient. Even though I live alone, I wanted a reasonably large larder type. The trouble is, once you get above A rating, the price jumps. The only make I liked the look of was Liebherr, one of the (unfortunately) more expensive lines, but still half the price of Smeg. I have had this fridge for 6 months now, and am very pleased with it. It is A++ rated, and has metal reinforcing strips on the edge of the door shelves, which is a bit that can often get knocked. I might add that I bought a small Liebherr upright freezer just before Christmas (also A++), because it seemed to offer more space for the same cabinet size as most of the others. From what I understand, virtually all their components are recyclable, and they use some top grade insulation, which is more compact. I intend these to outlast me, so I hope I made the right choice... Andrea
