GUEST,Paul Slade PlanetSlade: Win a Death Discs Double CD (12) RE: Win a Death Discs Double CD 17 Sep 11

Your privilege of course, and I suppose I can't blame you for being sceptical.

Just for the record, though, PlanetSlade is purely a hobby site, which raises no income for me or anyone else. It's entirely free for readers, and exists only to run some essays of mine which Mudcatters and other folk or blues fans may find interesting. Far from raking in the cash, it actually costs me money to run the site, but I do so for the fun of writing it and contacting people who share my interests. The "here" link above simply takes you to the relevant page on PlanetSlade itself, which contains nothing sinister.

I won't pass entrants' e-mail addresses to anyone else (not even Chrome Dreams), but I may use them for future mailings from PlanetSlade itself. These are very short e-mails, telling people on my list when the site has a new essay up on-line, and contain no commercial element whatsover. I send out no more than five or six of these every year, so they're not a heavy burden on anyone's in-box.

I've included a note at the bottom of every entry form for this (and every other) competition reminding people that they can opt out of PlanetSlade mailings if they wish, and every mailing I send out has that note on the bottom too. So far, no-one's chosen to take advantage of it, which suggests any nuisance I'm causing is pretty minimal.

As I said, I don't blame you for being sceptical, but the only idea here is to tempt a few extra people into giving PlanetSlade a try and add a fun little extra element to the site. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to explain all this.
