More details on this website

A day workshop open to all singers to come and learn some folk songs - whether they are already steeped in the tradition or new to it.

James Fagan is a very experienced singer originally from Sydney Australia, where he grew up singing with his folk-singing family The Fagans. He has sung many styles of music from musicals and choral repertoire to barbershop, but folk song is his main love and he is now a full-time folk performer based in the UK. James is best-known for his long-standing duo with Nancy Kerr. James and Nancy won Best Duo at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2003 and 2011.

James has a rich, tuneful voice and an interest in all sorts of songs from traditional ballads (especially Australian and English) to contemporary writing. He is well-known as an inspiring workshop leader and is currently a singing teacher on the Newcastle Folk Degree Course. He enjoys working with singers of all ages and abilities and has a natural flair for communicating his skills and knowledge in a very accessible, enjoyable way.
