I first hear this duo a couple of weeks ago. They are, from what I've seen and heard so far, much more interesting than most of the current crop of "country music" performers. As far as there being something "dark" about the south, that would probably make a good topic for a separate thread sometime. I think I might argue that it's not really "dark," but more varied and complex than many other regions. More textured. Unlike many other regions of our country, life is old there, as a song once said. And the American South has two primary, distinct divisions that much of the country is unaware of: The south of the mountain people of southern Appalachia is quite different from the lowland south of magnolias, live oak trees and plantations. Anyway, give the Civil Wars a listen.
