Heard of the Lowell Mtn. (VT) wind project? Here's my musical contribution: Don't Ask, Maureen (To the tune of Good Night Irene) Sometimes I live in virtue, sometimes I know that I've sinned Sometimes I find my self asking, must we give up our mountains to wind? Don't ask, it's Green, Maureen Don't ask, it's Green It's Green, Maureen It's Green Maureen You mustn't ask questions, it's Green Vermonters are proud of our mountains, we're known as the Green Mountain State Building wind towers this large is sheer folly; can we stop them before it's too late? The Lowells have been here forever, they belong to Vermonters by birth; Are we sure we're not being short-sighted? Do we know what a mountain is worth? A mountain is more than a tripod, a base for a tower in the sky To blast is to change it forever, and the question we're asking is 'why?' The Lowells are lines in a ledger; "we're diversifying our portfolio" we're told "It's for profit", "It's Green", "It's inevitable"; "The mountain's already been sold!" Write the governor! Tell him you're against it! No wait, he won't read your notes... He's thinking of coming elections, his mind's not on mountains, but votes... Don Houghton
