Since Tallahassee is acoustically deprived, I buy everything online. marsmusic.com and musiciansfriend.com have the best prices on strings (there may be other online companies with good prices, as well, these are just my personal preferences). I pay $12+changed for my Elixirs, but I try to order several items at a time to justify the shipping costs.

BTW ... My Larrivee came with Elixir mediums and I changed them to Earthwoods, which I found corroded very quickly. I've got a set of Dr. Rare I'm going to try next, but I do like the Elixir's. My strings usually last a long time, so the Earthwood test surprised me. It could very well be, though, that the cause is that I'm playing more than ever before and it's not the strings, but that fact.
