Strangely enough the tune is still used in the UK on the football/rugby terraces to taunt the opposite fans when their team is losing.

Can you hear (team name)sing? No-o, no-o.
Can you hear ----- sing? No-o
Can you hear ----- sing?
I can't hear a f-----=g thing. No-o, no-o, no-o.

It seldom gets right to the last note. It's quite a folk survival if it stems from 1951 recordings.
