kitchen piper Duo workshop at Gleanings (UK) (2) Duo workshop at Gleanings 26 Jan 12

Hello!
An advertising thread really, so my apologies for that. :)

We (Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer) are running a duo workshop at Gleanings at the end of April. The weekend is focussing on being a duo, playing together, arranging and basically having a great time making music in groups. You don't need to be a duo or come as a duo. Just bring yourself and an instrument/voice. Of course the workshop nyckelharpas will be there too for those that wish to partake of nyckelharpa goodness. :)

The official spiel:
Sat. 28th - Sun. 29th April 2012
The workshop weekend will centre around the creation, rehearsal and performance of a new arrangement of a traditional song, with orchestration, harmony and 'polish'.
The workshop sequence will create a new arrangement of a traditional song. It will explore the use of instruments to drive and underpin the song. We will then explore vocal harmonies, instrument counterpoints and arrangement to enhance and annotate the story and message. Finally we will look at practice, rehearsal and performance techniques to ensure that the duo comes together for a performance to the best effect. Part of this process will include the recording of a performance and critical assessment.
YOU DON'T NEED TO COME AS A DUO. Duo teams can be created from the participant list at the time.

More details on the Gleanings website

Would be great to see some Catters there! :)
(Advert over, thanks!)
:)
Vicki
