An AP report read by me today in the Jamaica Gleaner, throws out the suggestion that the mysterious figure who came to be called "The Poe Toaster" for the strange way in which he was wont annually to pay homage at the burial spot of the late great American author, Edgar Allan Poe, has himself passed on. My passion for the works of Poe thus instantly rekindled, I have spent a few minutes late this afternoon re-reading The Pit and the Pendulum and am, as night falls, feeling myself handsomely rewarded for my efforts. Is there any other habitue of the coziest of all cafes who enjoys reading Poe? If so, I'd love to hear from him/her/them.
