The sad story might not just be a Hartlepool one--I heard one time a fellow from Aberdeenshire sing (to the tune of "The Tinkler's Waddin", a fragment ending "The Boddamers hung the monkey, oh!" -- Boddam being a town just south of Peterhead in Aberdeenshire.
