GUEST,Patsy Obit: Whitney Houston dead at 48 (1963-2012) (87* d) RE: Obit: Whitney Houston dead at 48 (1963-2012) 20 Feb 12

I was dreading this thread starting because I could predict what the reaction of some would be. A lot of people especially here in the UK tend to get all sanctimonious as soon as they hear something like this happening and leap straight to the drug taking and heavy drinking before anything else (and if they can find any sleaze that too). Straight for the jugular. The Whitney Houston that I was sad about was the early Whitney Huston who made every song a classic and her own. So many young up and coming stars have been influenced by her songs and styled themselves on her singing getting them started. That said it is not my kind of music not something I would go out and buy but it doesn't stop me appreciating the professionalism she had. Drug addiction any addiction changes people and the rude and arrogant Whitney possibly a result of that.

The funeral, now that was something else which I thought was getting to look cheesier by the minute. Did they set up Bobby Brown storming out of the church out to add to the drama? It was made to look so tacky that I was beginning to suspect it. Stevie Wonder's contribution looked like it had been cut-out and taken from the Jackson funeral and planted there. Perhaps it was just the way it came across but it seemed such an undignified end.
