Just ran across this, very sad. I met Cliff briefly in the early '70s, my friend Malcolm and I were motor mechanics at the time and cliff was one of Malcolms customers. One night Malcolm got a phone call from Cliff at a gig in Leeds, his Cortina had broken down and we went up the M1 to see what could be done. Nothing as it turned out because the clutch was burned out so we towed him back to London; Malcolm, his girlfriend Joan, Gerry Lockran (also sadly gone), me and 2 guitars squeezed into an Anglia and Cliff, white-knucked and freezing in his Cortina trying not to run into the back of us as we towed him back down the M1! Makes me smile whenever I think of it. Sadly missed, both Cliff and Gerry.
