Carol was a regular at DC area shanty sings. It is sad to hear. She had a great sense of humor. Her business card, which I am reading now, reflected her humor: Admiral Caryl Weiss of the Texas Navy (clearly pre-Constitutional), and listed her address as the Texas Embassy, Annapolis; her email was Shantymam@yahoo.com She knew her songs of the sea and would gently inform those of us (landlubbers) just learning the songs, that "belay" probably didn't belong at the end of a capstan chantey. I am sure the local DC area chantey haunts will sing some chanteys in her name. Most likely the Wheaton MD venue this Tuesday and Baltimore on 13 June. Med vennlig hilsen, Brian Stavanger
