In 1940 Woody Guthrie recorded 14 titles for RCA Victor, 12 of which were released by that company as two 78" rpm albums: Dust Bowl Ballads, vols 1 & 2 (Now familiar to us). Shortly after their release, when the company officials learned of Woody's left wing political activities and writings, they were withdrawn from the catalogue. Moses Asch, with Woody's encouragement but not with RCA's licence, took copies of the records and released eight of the titles in 1950 as Talking Dust Bowl.

Does anyone nowadays have the courage of Moses Asch?
