"I believe England had to change colours because the Swedes play in a mainly yellow strip. Had both sides been playing in a light colour strip, this could have caused some problems for TV. I believe that is the reason, but I would be interested to hear from anyone who has better information!"

Thanks for your response, alanabit. If that is the case, why didn't they play in their more usual red shirts?
