I teach elementary school and our school song is stale and needs to be updated. My fifth graders are ready to tackle this project, but we aren't up to writing an original melody. We'd like to take an existing tune and write new lyrics. However, I don't want to get into complex copyright issues. Is there a list somewhere of public domain tunes we could look at to find a "safe" melody to use? I'd appreciate any help - the school year is passing quickly!
