Spaw's unoriginal and unamusing criticisms notwithstanding, there really is a lot to dislike about this performance. For one thing that silly prat Andre Rieu, a civilian, saluted the Pipe Major bareheaded. And we seem to agree about the whistle player. And yet ... The band was really good, and probably raised a lump in the throats of quite a few people who might not admit it. Kendall was right. It was a moving performance -doesn't mean I'm going to rush out and buy tickets to the next Andre Rieu concert.
