Thanks to all of you who responded. I wish this was the song I'm looking for, but it's not. The one I want is by Joe Callicott, and has been recorded on a couple of blues albums. One of the verses goes: You told me early in the fall, You didn't have no man at all, Fare thee, baby, fare thee well You told me early in the fall, You didn't have no man a-tall, You've got more men than a 2-ton truck can haul. Sure would like to get the rest of the song.
