Owen Woodson Non-English Napoleonic Songs (8) RE: Non-English Napoleonic Songs 12 Jul 12

Sorry but this is about as vague as it can get. There's an LP of Cajun music which includes a song in French about Napoleon trying to recruit Cajun soldiers for the French army. According to the song, for which I would doubt there's any historical precedent, they tell him where to stuff his offer. The track includes a bit of an interview, also in French, in which the singer explains this and says the song can't be true because they would never have treated Napoleon like that.

The LP was issued sometime in the 1970s or early '80s on an American label; I think possibly on Rounder.

Does this ring any bells with anyone else?
