Thanks for the information, Justin - so it seems the song was composed by Sylvester Gaffney - and, as Jim Dixon pointed out on the thread you linked to, this was the pseudonym used by Leo Maguire. I'm curious now as to whether there is any connection to the family of the Irish baritone, Austin Gaffney - I believe that as a boy soprano Austin was due to appear on a Radio Eireann show broadcast by Leo Maguire but his voice broke overnight!
