GUEST,celticfawn THE WINNER II (23) RE: THE WINNER II 10 Nov 00

I read the whole thread. Some good points in between the sarcasm, anger, and astonishment. The electoral college is set by the Constitution. The founding fathers didn't want a popular vote for the main reason that it would be unfair to the less populated states. Why bother with them if the elections are really just the larger populated ones. There is history that would allow the electoral college to procede and just eliminate Florida. If this happens neither candidate has the votes and then it would go to the House. Each state has 1 vote. In this scenario Bush would have 31 states Gore 14 the remaining states are split. Bush would win.

From reading some of the "essays" one would think that only Democrats liked folk music!!! Have any of you looked at the "Map" of the election? Somehow I think folk music is more popular in Wyoming and other western states plus the South than it is in New York. Just my opinion but then I voted for Bush and I do pray that he is the next president. I applaud him for his dignity throughout the farce that is happening. He has shown he does know how to face difficult situations. Delegating to James Baker and not getting in his face but really letting him handle it. I realize that this site is really pro Nader. My son and daughter in law were pro Nader. If it came down to just Bush or Gore, they wouldn't have gone Gore.

If Gore does get in I think the divisions in this country will only become more entrenched. Would be sad. We'll get through anything. We have made it through the Clintons, but I regret that society has made it respectable for a man NOT to be a gentleman. I don't want Gore to concede before all the votes are counted but if it doesn't go his way he should offer congratulations to Bush. Then he should show that he truely loves this country and do all he can in his party to merge us together.
