this song was written by my grandfather Bill Griffin of Doon who had the farm out at the mulchair river by the Toher Castle. My late mother sang it all the time and told me her father wrote it. I had searched for the words and thrilled to finally find it. It is often confused with Newport Town which has the same air I believe. Does anyone know older people now living in Doon, Co. Limerick.
