In the early 60's I was around 16 or 17 years young, and used to hang around the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach CA. Ian & Sylvia were in town playing at the Bear and Monte crashed at my apartment for a night or two. He had some good pot and we shared it a time or two. Other than that reminiscence and seeing him perform with Ian & Sylvia at the Bear I didn't really see him or get to know him much. I still listen to Northern Journey, Ian & Sylvia's best LP and marvel at Monte's awesome picking. What a terrible loss.
