From The Pittsburgh Press, Feb. 7, 1915 Little Mary Make-Believe (no attribution) Little Mary Make-Believe, How she makes her family grieve, Sitting hard as she is able, Banging! Banging! on the table. She thinks she is a singer fine, For she is singing all the time; She sings so loud her voice is rasping, Out of breath, for air she's gasping. On and on and on she sings, Till the bell for dinner rings; Then her face shines with delight, For Mary has an appetite. Singing is an exercise That makes her long for mother's pies, It is a happy kind of play, And helps her pass the time away.
