Can anyone tell me who wrote the song I know as "A Drinking Song"? It has the following opening lines to the first verse: Of all the songs, I'd like to sing A drinking song's the best, sir, And with my pint pot in my hand I'll put it to the test, sir. The chorus is: So sing a song, a drinking song And sing it just for pleasure And when that song be o'er and done We'll have another measure. I'd like to have a go at it but would prefer to be able to credit the author. I have the words to the remainder of the song, which deal with morris men dancing, drinking and singing in Padstow on 1st May, so I only need to know the author. Can anyone help, please? Clive B
