I remember seeing the Vein back in about 1976/77 at the Nag's Head opposite the candle factory. I was delighted to find that bass player Tom has posted some rare footage of the band on kid's TV show Magpie on youtube. Here's Laughing At Life and Lady Madonna I'd been tipped off about them by former member Richard Bartram, who went on to form String Jam which featured Mike Piggot on violin (he went on to do a lot of work with Ralph McTell). These days Richard is concentrating on making beautiful guitars, mandolins and bouzoukis - although many of us would like to hear him play more.
