Does the name Barney Peters ring a bell? I have a recording, "The World Famous and Justly Popular BARNEY PETERS", that I was given in the 60's. Don't care for it much, but "The Orange and The Green" is on it. He lived in Sydney, Nova Scotia, where he was in charge of the reservoir that supplied Sydney with water.
I don't believe he ever made another recording. He was an unknown, taken to Hollywood to produce this record, and went back as soon as it was finished. He was a 'pub' singer for fun, not a pro.
All the songs are Irish, traditional, but are called traditional Nova Scotia songs, as they are since there is a large Irish population there.
Blessings,
Reta
