The original Hovis TV advert - featuring Dvořák's New World - was played by Ashington Brass Band (Northumberland). It was originally recorded for a TV programme about footballers Bobby & Jack Charlton (also from Ashington). I know this as my father (Dick Hoskin) was in the band, playing cornet, at the time. The band was amalgamated with other pit bands - now called the Wansbeck Brass Band.
