25+ years ago at a folk festival workshop, it was probably Mariposa, Michael Cooney did a rant about how bad rock music was and about how rock musicians couldn't write songs that compare with old songs. Rosalie Sorrels was seated next to Michael and did a song right after the rant. He turned to her and said something to the effect of, "What a beautiful song, I've never heard it before. Where did you find it?" Rosalie responded, "It's called 'Ripple' and it's by the Grateful Dead." BTW, "Uncle John's Band" is a tribute to the New Lost City Ramblers. Uncle John is John Cohen.
