Neil D Origins: The Day the Music Died (34) RE: Origins: The Day the Music Died 04 Feb 13

Rog, Eddie Cochran was still going strong in 1959 although only 2 of the songs you listed released in 1959 (U S release dates). Alas, another tragedy. Eddie only survived 1959 by 117 days, being killed Apr 17, 1960 in a car crash while on a British tour. Although not so recognized today, he was quite innovative and and had a major impact on Rock Music. It's been said that John let Paul join the Quarrrymen because he could play and sing "Twenty Flight Rock". Ironically, before his own death Eddie had written and recorded the song "Three Stars", a tribute to Buddy, Richie and the Bopper. It was released posthumously.
