Yeah, but at least Radagast was [i]there...[/i] I think they were going for "loves animals so much, he actually lets them poo in his hair..." Saruman has a big head even when he's anti-Sauron. I think the expanded scenes are partly so the question of "What the hell was Gandalf doing while the 13 dwarves and 1 hobbit were trying to reclaim Erebor?" and partly to tie it in to LOTR.
