        David Newey is extraordinary guitar player whose unique style defies categorising & distinguishes him from a big crowd. It's powerful, graceful & completely appropriate, stealing from folk, rock & roll, country & jazz. He's been taught by such legends as Chris Newman, Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy & John Renbourn, but is equally inspired by the electric playing of Nels Cline & Ry Cooder. He tours with Folk Award winner Tom McConville, & is a Young Folk Award Finalist himself. He has played on albums by Emily Portman (with whom he owns a record label) Christi Andropolis, Rubus, Sandra Kerr & many others, and has released three widely-praised solo albums.
        The workshop will cover melodic work, chords, improvisation, and other techniques such as harmonics, hybrid picking and effects/amplification.
