This coming Saturday, February 23,1:00-1:45pm, Richard Adrianowicz and I are performing an African American History Month chantey program aboard the square-rigger Balclutha, berthed at Hyde Street Pier, San Francisco. We'll be singing chanteys of black sailors, longshoremen, fishermen and oarsmen, and talking about the history behind the songs. The choruses are easy to pick up, and all will be encouraged to sing along. Ships admission fees apply: $5 adults. Ages 15 and under, free. Free with national park passes.
