During our stay here in the beautiful southern Appalachians, a song from my childhood keeps ringing through my head. When I lived in Colorado, my mother would sing this every time we drove to the Rockies: You'll do better up in the mountains, You'll do better up in the mountains, You'll do better up in the mountains, As we have done before! The tune was very close to the children's game, "Go in and out the window", though not identical. It seems to me there was a second verse. My Google-fu is failing me here. Does anyone know the origins of this song???
