Thomas O'Brien Butler was the great hope of Irish classical music in the early years of the 20th century. He wrote one opera, Muirgheis, in Irish and English; he was also working, or thinking of working, on a cycle of three operas with Thomas MacDonagh.

He was one of the victims of the Lusitania, torpedoed on this date in 1914 and sunk with the loss of almost 1,200 souls.

Has anyone any links to Muirgheis, or to any of his music?
