We have a programme called Folk on Sunday which can be heard online from Kidnappers Community Radio from 3-4pm NZ time every Sunday and it is repeated on Monday night from 9-10pm. NZ time is 12 hours ahead of GMT so the Sunday programme is the middle of the night for Britain but the Monday repeat is at 10am Monday during summer time. We work as a team, taking turns - operating the desk one week, doing the talking next week. Usually Mitch sorts out the CDs to play and then reports it to the Folk DJ site, tho' I might suggest a person or an event that relates to a certain date or news item and then a track can be included. Then people who have new CDs they want publicised, contact us and send us a copy and if it suits our criteria - traditional songs and songs that tell a story, then we'll play it. And if we receive a disc that doesn't suit, it is passed on to the radio station, for someone else to play. Mitch also prerecords a programme called Kidnapper's Ceilidh which plays at midnight Saturday NZ time. This includes instrumental tracks from all around the world, although the majority would be Irish, Scottish and American tunes. Robyn
