Let's not write off songs entirely as sources of factual information, though. Monty Python wrote a couple of highly educational songs. To this day I refer back to the Galaxy Song when I'm trying to remember the dimensions of our galaxy, or how long it takes us to make an orbit. Although I concede the figures aren't *that* accurate.
And I wouldn't know half as much as I do about the English Civil War period if it wasn't for their classic 'Oliver Cromwell.'
For my part I like to make my songs as factually accurate as possible.
