Uncle DaveO and one or two others are missing Greg's point, which was: No gun, no tragedy. Which is why I would be surprised if such a tragedy occurred in Europe; not at all surprised that it happened in the US.

From once finding it all quite distressing, I'm now entirely relaxed about the lethal consequences of the American gun-toting mentality. On the law of averages a goodly proportion of the victims will be, or will be the children of, advocates of the right to bear arms. Well-wishers from around the world have gently suggested that they might find less hazardous toys to play with, but it's their entitlement to shun the advice and kill each other.

What price can I get for another Columbine within a year? Not that I bet on certainties....
