There is nothing wrong with using a pre-empted acronynm if it is the most suitable one. I don't think the Irish Traditional Music Archive (or the whole of 'Hibernia' for that matter) gets all that uptight when it's pointed out that their acronym has been pre-empted in the UK. You're right to say they can't have it both ways but wrong to assume they want it both ways. I think they're happy enough with their acronym. UKers are free to pass remarks about it, but don't get uptight if the reaction is 'so bloody what'.
