We once sang South Australia accompanied by an octave Bouzouki, which I think sounded OK. But were then given 'down the banks' by an unaccompanied singer, who said we would 'be the death of shanties'. We and the listeners enjoyed it, and I don't think we did any lasting harm! Do your own thing and enjoy it. All the best John PS ukuleles are great fun.
