If it is just for music I would go for the iPod classic, 160gb. This will also hold photos but the screen is small.   The new iPod Touch is like a baby iPad and the memory holds various apps so less of a dedicated mp3 player. I have got all my record collection on the classic and a much smaller playlist on the touch. I think the classic is cheaper than the touch but it is much more limited in what you can do. Always buy the largest amount of storage you can afford.
