Really sorry to hear this. She was definitely one of the best things about the 70's. Loved her voice right from the start. Still do. She made so many songs her own. I think I've read that "You're No Good" was originally done by the Everly Brothers and that "Blue Bayou" was originally by Roy Orbison. They will both always be hers. Her rocking, aggressive version of "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" was--and is-- so much fun to sing along with. And so many others. And, as has been mentioned, her venturing into 40's standards etc, (Lush Life, etc,) and into Hispanic music ("de mi Padre") may have led some of us earlier in those directions than we might have done otherwise.
