The Solace of Leaving Early, and The Used World, both by Haven Kimmel. Any of Catherine Fox's novels; alas, now out of print. T.Pratchett's MASKERADE; I laughed like a drain the first time I read that.Maybe cos I'm not a big Lloyd Webber fan! also loved swallows and Amazons as a child. re-read them a couple of years ago and was pleased to find how good a writer Ransome was, whatever his flaws may have been as a person. one good Young Adults' novel I found is The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean, brilliant story of obsessions and where they could lead you! the Lord of the Rings I've loved and read quite a few times over the years. and if Menolly is still out there, can you play guitar even half as well as your namesake? I hope so! I'm rather fond of Pern, myself.
