Does anyone know much about Ranie Burnette?

His album blurb mentions that he 'mentored' R.L. Burnside, though Fred McDowell is generally thought to be Burnside's teacher.

When I first heard Burnette's album, I was struck by his use of riffs and riff-based songs generally associated with Burnside.

There's been a lot written about the history of delta blues, but much less about the North Mississippi, Hill Country style. Does anyone have good sources or information for origins of this music?

Thanks.
