In the late sixties, I hung out and sometimes played at a coffee house in Sausalito, CA. One really gifted performer used to sing a song called "Spoon River" which was so beautiful! It wasn't anything like the Steve Goodman version. I've been racking my 70 year-old brain to remember that performer's name. It was between 1966-68, and folks like Billy Roberts (Hey Joe), Bola Sete, Tom & Lee, Martin Wood, and Penny Nichols were frequent performing artists. The Spoon River piece was hauntingly beautiful. Anyone recall this guy's name? Michael Considine was the Lion's Share owner.
