Martin, you mentioned Brian Dunning. Louis Stewart who regularly played gigs for us in the early days of Alternative Entertainments, used tell this story. Back in the early eighties, James Galway when on a visit to Dublin phoned Brian Dunning's home and got talking to Brian's mother who told him Brian wasn't at home. She had no idea who James Galway was but after they chatted politely for a while she eventually asked 'Was it about flute lessons?' You may not have had jazz in Athlone in 1972 but I think you probably had Mrs Flannery!!!
