GUEST,Pauline Kelly Anyone know of Tom Yates (93* d) RE: Anyone know of Tom Yates 05 Jan 14

Yes I remember Tom Yates!!!   Very fond memories of his early days, even before he moved to Disley!! In fact my elder sister was in the same class as Tom at St Patrick's school in Rochdale. However I didn't come across him till early 60's when I got into folk music & discovered what a greatsinger & a lovely guy he was. I remember well going to see him perform at the Rochdale College, the Ring o' Bells in Middleton &, many, many times at the Shakespeare in Manchester I have original vinyl copies of "Song of the Shimmering Way", "Love Comes Well Armed", Second City Spiritual", & an original vinyl single of "Rattle of A Toy" b/w/ "Long Time Gone" All still in original sleeves, the single sleeve signed by Tom If you would like copies of any of them I will do my best to put themonto discfor you, but it may take me a little while as I'm not very technically orientated, so may have to ask my Grandson to do it for me It was lovely reading through the replies to your thread, seeing how manypeople still remember & appreciate Tom's music. I also remember Davy Morgan (but not to the same extent) & somewhere in the depths I have a signed photo of Davy too   Well I hope you receive this email ok & will look forward to your reply Wishing you all the best x
